I do not enjoy running. I will never run a marathon. I am not a runner. These are all comments I have made in the past. But, none of these comments were really true, they only represented a lack of confidence. Then I had the opportunity to step in the ring and fight for Haymakers for Hope in 2018. That experience helped me realize that I can do anything I set my mind to and has dramatically changed my life for the better. Most importantly, I have another opportunity to raise money, with this organization that I admire so much, to support all of those folks past, present, and future who are fighting a battle with cancer. For me this will mean dark early mornings, running in the cold, and generally being uncomfortable or sore. But all of that pales in comparison to what so many people are navigating right now with cancer diagnosis and treatment - and both the mental and physical struggle those bring. So now, I am a runner. I will run a marathon. And I will enjoy every single second of it - especially for all those who do not have a choice but to fight.
