My name is Cory Finn. I have been a Firefighter with the Boston Fire Department for the last 10 years. It's like having a second family. These men & women in the fire service would do anything for each other. Best job in the world. But this job comes with great risk.

We've all heard the word cancer before. It's a terrible disease that millions of people are battling today. Believe it or not but cancer is the leading cause of death among firefighters.

In the Fall of 2020, a very good friend of mine and active duty member on the BFD, Danny Ranahan was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Him and I graduated the Boston Fire Academy together nearly a decade ago. His family and mine come from a long history of firefighters. His friends & family were shocked when they heard the news. It's been 3, almost 4 years now and he's still battling. But no matter what, firefighters don't give up. We never quit.

In August 2021, The Ranahan Family created and founded the Boston Fire Cancer Foundation. A nonprofit Organization that provides support to the BFD Firefighters who are diagnosed with occupational cancer. There are multiple other active duty members on the Boston Fire that have been diagnosed with cancer and are being helped and assisted with this foundation today.

Through fundraising efforts, this foundation hopes to provide services to firefighters and families as needed. Their goal is to eliminate the daily stressors that come with cancer diagnoses. It will provide support through mentorships, financial support, transportation, meal plans, and much more.

In this years Haymakers, I will be fighting for The Boston Fire Cancer Foundation. I hope that my fight will bring a crowd of people in and help me KO Cancer. I really appreciate everyone's donations and hope to see you Thursday May 9th at the MGM in Fenway.
